2019 Charlotte Salute To Heroes Hockey Game
14th Annual Salute to Heroes Hockey Game @ Bojangles Coliseum Benefiting: Great Balls of Fire Charitable Foundation
CHARLOTTE, NC- The 14th Annual Salute to Heroes Hockey game will take place on Sunday March 17, 2019 at Bojangles Coliseum. Each year, the Charlotte Fire Department, Mecklenburg EMS Agency, Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department and Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office take to the ice to benefit families in need of fallen or injured public safety members from their organizations. This year’s presenting sponsors are Harris Teeter, I Heart Media, Diamond Springs Water and the Charlotte Checkers.
Before the puck is dropped, the public is welcomed to see up close and in person a remarkable public safety display from 3pm to 430pm in the Bojangles Coliseum parking lot. Look for Fire Trucks, Ambulances and our collection of our finest Law Enforcement vehicles that respond to the calls for service.
The Heroes game puck drops at 5pm - CFD/MEDIC vs CMPD/MCSO. The CFD/MEDIC lead the series 7-6, with CFD/MEDIC winning last year 6-4. The teams play to honor those who serve, have served and those that have been lost in the line of duty. This public safety community event is a valuable opportunity for our next generation to interact with public safety members and garner a respect for their role in keeping Charlotte-Mecklenburg safe. Eventually they may have aspirations to be a member of public safety in the future.
Over the past 13 years the Heroes Hockey game has raised more than $380,000 in donations and in kind gifts to support public safety families in need from public safety organizations in the area. Of note, along with funds raised a marrow match was identified from a previous “Be the Match” donor registry drive.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Bojangles Arena box office or online at www.charlotteheroeshockey.com . Parking for event is FREE.For group ticket purchases or to become a sponsor please contact Marc Bochicchio at 704-819-6725 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
